RK International Machine Tools’ decision to double the size of its MACH Show stand over 2014 has paid dividends, allowing it to exhibit a greater number of machines and focus on the high precision grinding sector. The result was an increase in enquiries over the previous exhibition, with a significant lift in the potential value of those enquiries.

Going into this MACH RK International Machine Tools was supported by its key overseas machine principals and that support continued at the show with representatives travelling from Italy and Taiwan to support the Robbi Delta and Perfect grinding machines on display. Visitors to the stand were able to see the new Perfect X36 high precision surface grinder, which was being exhibited for the first time in the UK. This machine proved to be of interest to traditional toolrooms and larger OEMS, who were looking to develop their grinding capability. The machine features the ADP control from Perfect allowing the X36 to be programmed in 0.001mm increments in the vertical and cross axes. In addition, the in-built grinding features, such as the axial-controlled functions that can be selected according to different grinding conditions, generate increased productivity. The presence of the X36 on the stand also led to several discussions on other Perfect surface grinding machines, which starts from 150 x 450mm, all the way through to 1600 x 6000mm

For those looking at vertical grinding a pair of Delta vertical spindle grinders were on display. These compact, yet highly capable machines drew lots of interest due to the exceptional metal removal rates that can be achieved. The Delta Elle Series were represented with the LC400 Rotary Table model and Delta LP500/200 with its oscillating table also have impressive grinding capacities with maximum grinding diameters of up to 500. A number of reciprocal surface grinding machine enquiries were also discussed, for the more demanding applications.

In a similar vein, interest was also high in the Robbi 600ET6 PLC universal grinder which was shown with the latest Siemens TP700 control that allows touch-screen operation to control grinding of up to 12 diameters in a single set-up. The Robbi 600ET6 is the second in the range of Robbi T6 specified machines of four swing capacities. With a maximum grind length of 630 mm (2030 mm is the largest machine available in the range) and a centre height of 180 mm (230 mm optional). The machine on show also demonstrated the level of sophistication that Robbi can provide, being equipped with Marposs and Renishaw gauging and a 30,000 revs/min electronic spindle for internal grinding work.

“The Mach show proved to be a very successful and opportune event for RK International Machine tools. The investment has paid off in terms of the increased level of interest, especially in the high precision grinding that we have available, across a range of applications and budgets."
